The Versailles mattress consists of a robust open coil spring system, sumptuous layers of hypo-allergenic fillings and a hand tufted stretch knit fabric. Hand tufting is the best way to ensure the fillings are held securely in place and is achieved by passing tapes through the mattress at regular intervals. Cotton tufts are then fitted to both sides of the mattress. This helps the layers of white fibre fillings to retain their fullness and plumpness over time. The interior is made up of hourglass shaped open coil springs, set out in rows running from head to toe and connected to each other by a series of spiral wires. To prevent border breakdown and provide edge to edge support across its width, a thick rod-edge wire is attached to the perimeter rows of springs. The Versailles is a dual sided mattress that requires to be rotated and flipped over on a regular basis to maintain its support and comfort.
