To pre-tension the mattress, a hand-tufted process is applied by passing nylon tapes through the mattress at regular intervals. Cotton tufts are fitted to both sides of the tapes to ensure the fillings are held securely in place. Tufting also gives it a firmer feel. The interior is made up of robust open coil springs. Set out in rows from head to toe, each row is attached by a spiral helical wire.
