We’ve CONSCIOUSLY CRAFTED these drawers with materials that we think are long overdue a comeback: cherry wood and rattan wicker weave. Our design team made the decision to use solid cherry wood and cherry veneers for the frame. Many makers have ditched redwoods, with modern furniture tending towards the contrasts of darker or paler woods. When our design team saw some newly sourced cherry samples they were struck by the rich warmth of the colour and the fine, straight grain. They saw the chance to reintroduce this redwood to a new generation. As the cherry is finished with a clear lacquer, you can expect it to darken and develop a rich, natural patina over time as the colour deepens and intensifies, telling its own unique story. Elsewhere we used natural cane for the rattan weave front sections. Rattan ”” once the darling of 60s and 70s interior design and now brought into a more contemporary design ”” is a high durability, low maintenance material. The handle-free drawer design helps to keep the dimensions down a bit too.
