Brass Living >

This year saw the rise of the blue kitchen. Rustic was back on trend and greenery had its moment with Pantone’s colour of the year and the move to bringing the outdoors in. But with autumn finally here we’re taking a look at what the industry will be focusing on next year. Dulux has already announced dusty purple Heartwood as its colour of 2018 and Elle Decor has revealed its predictions for Pantone. Many industry insiders are also looking at the outdated decor trends that could be making a come back and top of the list is brass.

Brass made a brief return in 2016 and 2018 is set to see another comeback. This time round will see brass in several forms, becoming a key feature in decor like lighting, tables, chairs, bowls and vases. But gone is the gaudy shiny brass of the 1900s and in is a modernised version of sleek lines, matt finishes and minimalist shapes.

Take a look at some of the styles that will be dominating 2018 and for more inspiration follow our newest Pinterest board: “Living room – brass & gold”

Brass will be a dominant material in lighting in 2018 with shapes edging on futuristic and space age.

Chairs & Furniture

Brass will take pride of place in the structural elements of chairs and furniture. Arms and legs will be structured and angular while the seating will be plush in bold jewel colours.

Side Tables

Side tables will be divided between an art deco theme and a ultra modern design. Brass will take centre stage with glass often complimenting the designs.

At Bath Bespoke we love to work with brass. It’s such a timeless material and on several occasions we’ve crafted brass inlays into our furniture to add an extra element of luxury and design. In October last year we were asked by The Makers to craft some beautifully sleek and modern furniture for a home in Israel. We handmade the lacquered brass handles for the bespoke wardrobes and drawers and finished the white table with brass clad framework.

Here’s to the year of brass!
